Talking Archive - Queer conversations on architecture and the city is the first publication by muq, an architectural and psychoanalytical transdisciplinary platform founded in 2021 in Brazil.
Since 2022 , we have been carrying out actions that involve interviews with people of interest, or nominees, who contribute by telling their life stories, professional trajectories, or spatial queer relations with the city. The two texts that make up this publication were develped from 2023 to 2024.
Interview with Manu Wojcikiewicz is an interview with cisgender lesbian architect Emmanuella Wojcikiewicz, known as Manu, who is responsible for projects for nightclubs, bars, and galleries in downtown Florianopolis. They have been, at the same time, vectors and witnesses of the spatial transformation of the region. In the interview, we discuss the reverberations of being queer in architectural production, queer materialities, spaces of sociability, and the urban dynamics of gentrification linked to the occupation of nightlife spaces. We reached Manu through social media contact, asking for an interview for muq and we thank her for her light, important and humorous contribution. Irony and gossip are also queer tools for telling stories.
Lucas Reitz and Cali Ossani meet at the bakery to talk about Travaladralixo is a performance text produced from a conversation with Cali Ossani, a transgender woman performance artist, about the performance she held in downtown Florianopolis in 2017 during a residency at the Meyer Filho Memorial Gallery. The writing has a non-traditional textuality that seeks to remodel the ways of creating an archive with words and performance, distancing itself from the interview format and finding its poetics.
